I’m happy things ended on a good note. So here’s a note to my best friend of 8 monthsNo, nothing happened that makes “8 months” particularly special. But on the 13th of August, what was meant to be an ordinary day turned into an amazing day.

I remember how awkward I was, and I guess I always was around you. Walking around the shopping centre before anything opened. Grabbing breakfast alone in a completely empty food court. I guess I mistook it for a spark. Maybe I was missing something from a previous incident, and I thought you could fill that hole. And just yesterday, I figured it out. You didn’t fill that hole. You covered it up and made my days just that much more brighter. And I learned that I did the same for you. Some would just say “Oh man, she was just a rebound” and I to them, I say, no, she wasn’t. Now, I wasn’t exactly depressed, but I had gotten back into the mundane university routine. I wasn’t hurt from before, but I wasn’t enjoying everything every day. And for eight months, we patched each other up and moved on. We’re still amazing friends, I’ll still come over and play pool with your dad, or take your little brother bowling. Who knows, maybe we’ll give it another shot. But for now, I think it was good that we agreed to ‘de-commit’. (Jimmy Eat World’s “I Will Steal You Back” was playing in the background while I was typing that last sentence >____> ) It’s not often this happens in the interests of both involved. And you know that I’m not doing this because I’m eying someone else, not while I was with you. If I did, I probably couldn’t live with that lie.

But thank you for the last eight months. We did a good job supporting each other, and now we’re seeing whether we can stand on our own.

Quick side-note, this post is so gay. Shut up. Break ups are usually sad and depressing, but this was really something.
